Today Nokia announced its intent to acquire mobile consumer email provider Oz Communications. Oz provides email capabilities for wireless networks operators who offer access to AOL, Gmail, ICQ, Windows Live Hotmail, Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo. Oz already has more than 5.5 million monthly paid users. Nokia will be able to use Oz's technology to provide email and messaging services for its Series 40 and S60 phones.
