Qualcomm expects to launch a new MVNO called LifeComm by September. The MVNO has been in the works for several years, but because Qualcomm didn't want to be the primary backer of a network operator that competes with its existing carrier partners, it needed to partner with the right set of firms. Now that those details are settled, it is moving forward with the roll out. LifeComm will provide phones that are also meant to be tools to help baby boomers manage their health. It will target specific needs in the market and then offer the right mix of hardware and services to help meet those needs. Qualcomm has not said exactly which hardware, network and health services partners it has signed up.
