1 million out of 21...

It's 1 million out of 21 countries, actually that's terrible. In fact, it's deceiving. How many were sold in the US?..

If you ave it out it breaks down to a little over 47,000 sold from each country.
... how may N95's sold over the weekend? 🙄
...
How is that terrible? That's 2.5 times the number originally estimated. What does the breakdown per country matter? If they start selling them in Zambia and Madagascar that would inevitably drive down the "average per country" but that has no effect ...

Apple is giving the perception 1 million is a lot, contrast that with the number of Samsung Instincts which were sold in the US at release. The first 3 days 240,000 Instincts were sold, at 47,000 a day ave for the iphone that adds up to 141,000 the f...

Phonescoop, do your fact checking only 450,000 sold worldwide

Look at the source where phonescoop got it's info, from Apple of all places, read this:

In a report to clients issued a few hours before Apple’s announcement, Munster had estimated that Apple had sold about 450,000 iPhones worldwide and that it would take Apple at least 17 days to hit the one million mark.

One explanation for the discrepancy may have to do with how Apple counts sales. Sales at Apple Stores are recorded at the register. But sales to its partners — in this case, AT&T and the overseas carriers — are recorded when the devices leave the loading docks in Asia. In other words, some of those 1 million iPhones recorded as sold by Apple (AAPL) may still be in transit.

Well according to apple they did sell 1 million iphones. The story says that they count the ones sent to at&t and over-sea carriers as already sold.
...
That's common practice in mutlitple industries and isn't a surprise to anyone. Companies like Sony and Microsoft do it all the time in an effort to massage the numbers. Units shipped are considered as Units sold and that way they can make it look gr...

All those techie Tools

The craze that surrounds the iPhone is staggering. Sure, it is a cool phone, and the original was very revolutionary, but the fact of the matter is that at&t is completely boning over almost everyone that is getting them.

The Genius That is Advertising...

Looking at the headline this looks phenomenal... and if you never read the article you would almost be driven to "need" an iPhone because lets face it - 3 days, 1 million phones sold, theres gotta be somethin to that. THEN YOU ACTUALLY READ THE ARTICLE, and you see that they averaged just under 50,000 phones per country that they're in (the iPhone originally was launched in just the U.S. and took 74 days to hit a million) and all of a sudden it seems more like just another nice phone launch, no big deal.
Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaa 😛
