Today at Apple's WordWide Developer's Conference it announced the next version of the iPhone, complete with 3G. This new iPhone has thinner edges, a black, plastic back cover, a flush 3.5mm headset jack and solid metal buttons. It carries over the same 3.5-inch display, and has improved audio quality. Apple says that talk time with 3G will be 5 hours, and stand-by time will be 300 hours. 3G browsing time will be 5 to 6 hours, with 7 hours of video playback, and 24 hours of audio playback. GPS will be built into the device. The 8GB version will sell for the price of $200, a 16GB model will sell for $300, and it will also come in white. It will be available July 11. It will support tri-band UMTS/HSDPA bands at 850/1900/2100MHz. Coincidentally, the FCC approved the 3G version of the iPhone today.

Especially with Mobilme.
No way. Blackberry owns the market against Apple.
...
Guess P.T. Barnum was right about a certain thing happening every minute 🤣
...
Still no video??? Rate plan increases??? I do not live in a 3G area anyways, so I think I will hold onto my BB Curve, or if anything, port to Sprint and get there BB Curve that has video.

Someone can take my spot in line.

N95 Still Blows the ipHad away

Nothing more needs to be said. move along.....
Haha, true. But you have to admit, its a stronger contender against the N95 now more than ever.
...
I'm sure there's plenty to be said, pro or con.
Of course, it can turn into a Decepticon and the iPhone can't.

Does It Have Voice Activated Dialing?

I was wondering if the I phone 3G would Does have voice activated dialing? The first I Phone didn't have it. And if I can't use bluetooth to make a call then the I Phone isn't worth it.

N95 is useless

N95 is doesn't support 2100 only 1900 so its useless for me. iPhone will be the fourth phone sold by a US Carrier that actually will work in Japan.
Great! Your purchase Is justified!

I don't see any buttons on the new iPhone

Direct quote from phonescoop front page:

Can anyone explain?

Apple I Phone No MMS

Sprint smart phones have no MMS either. Maybe the I Phone should be on the Sprint network. But I'm not sure I would call the I Phone smart since it lacks voice activated dialing and video capture as well. Even my 3 year old 3G RAZR has that.
But the iPhone can do a lot of things your 3 year old 3G RAZR can't do- like make phone calls successfully!

JasonT1273 Drinks the Apple Kool Aid

It is amazing Jason you miss the point. If you can't use a bluetooth headset with the I phone you can't use it in your car in California and New York. Hell and many other states will pass that legislation. Some people just don't get it. And those that don't continue to drink the Apple and Steve Jobs Kool-Aid!!! Maybe you like it when Steve Jobs gives you a hand job!!!

Here is the truth: The 3G I Phone sucks, no voice activated dialing, no mms, and no video capture.

🤣 🤣 🤣
I guess I schooled Jason he can't even respond. Me thinks he is an Apple and I Phone homer.
...
I guess you right he wants a phone with no mms, no video capability, and no voice activated dialing he won't be using his phone he is car in most states but oh well he sucks just like Steve Jobs, Apple, and their new I Phone who wants a touch screen a...

Wow. You are very emotionally invested in this. Apple must've compromised your manhood something fierce.
But at the end of all that it is still a Nokia and therefore inferior to just about everything else on the market.

Yes I am biased against Nokia, but then again I test roughly 30-40 devices per year so I can be.

Everyone hurry and get em...

I have read some positive some negative here about the iPhone but many of you miss the point. There is a certain segment of the population that are just saps and will stand in line in the middle of July to buy any "great" new product with an apple logo on it.

Yes it has a few new bells and whistles, but most of it is fancy, shiny, glossy window dressing. The existing Blackberries are still far superior for the business world and that gap will widen when the new 3G Blackberry comes out in August.

But hey by all means, stand in line to buy your iPhone, please, after all it contributes to my future retirement!

Still no Video, or MMS!

Why won't Apple add MMS and video???? And it seems the camera is still the same 2 mp unit!! What's so hard about this?

one would assume that that data plan for AT&T will go up now that the phone uses 3G. am i blind, or is it the same?

It depends on a number of factors but usually yes, it should go up in price points, especially when AT&T is subsidizing now the new device to make it cheaper for people to afford the device.

Did they FIX the LOUSY VOLUME?

There really is nothing new on the 3G version. It still doesnt have CAMCORDER capability and most likely the VOLUME level is still BAD!!!!

The 1st iPhone had AWFUL VOLUME even at its highest you still cant hear people.
