Qualcomm Announces Patent-Compliant Chipsets

Qualcomm has completed work on new WCDMA chip designs for the U.S. market that don't infringe on certain Broadcom patents. The new chips have the same physical dimensions and software requirements of the banned chips, and can be used to replace them without any adjustments from the phone manufacturers. Qualcomm expects the chips will be available by the end of the first quarter.
