Sprint has stopped shipping the LG Rumor to its retail stores and halted sales of the phone while it works on fixing an error with the phone's firmware. A debugging menu, meant for engineers, was left active in the firmware. The menu can accidentally be accessed by users when navigating to the main menu or dialing phone numbers. Once activated, the debugging menu automatically wipes the phone. Phones that have been wiped need to be sent back to the factory to have the firmware reinstalled. LG is working to update the firmware and prevent access to the debugging menu. LG and Sprint will offer the new firmware over the air to existing customers and will resume sales of the Rumor once the new firmware has been installed.
