The Sanyo S1 has become available at RadioShack retail stores. It is a slim, bar-style phone for Sprint that has 1xRTT data and is compatible with Sprint's Vision services and Java applications. It includes Bluetooth that supports dial-up networking, speakerphone, and uses microUSB for charging and data loading. It won't be available in Sprint retail stores until January.

Corrections

It is available in some Sprint stores.. We have it in ours already.

Also, more imporantantly, it DOES NOT have Power Vision. It is a Vision phone only.
Yeah, I have no clue what the website for Sanyo is talking about. Phone Scoop really needs to update this.

The S! by Sanyo is our new free phone and that is it. It is a nice phone but yet again it is just the free phone. It runs off of the Sprint V...

Mustang do you work in a sprint corp store or in a 3rd party store that may just sell sprint only? I've had a meeting at the sprint corp office and was told the phone is only available through the indirect channel. Sprint.com doesn't offer this phon...

The REAL facts

The FACTS are that the phone is available...NOW (not January)... we have one in stock in our Sprint Indirect store for sale to the public. It is also available for direct ship through VAD. This phone is not EV-DO either, it is just a plain ol' Vision phone. Not sure where your information is coming from...but it is WAY off base. RESEARCH IS GOLDEN... ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU'RE POSTING IT!! 😲
Check the Sanyo link...that's where they got the info from...
Just because your shady liquor/lotto/hair salon/cell phone store has it, doesn't mean they're supposed to 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

Our information came from both Sanyo and corporate Sprint. We were told it was a limited availability phone in RadioShack retails stores exclusively until January via an email from a Sprint PR rep.

The Sanyo web site says Micro USB and has a pictur...

No speakerphone button?

I hope this doesn't mean no speaker phone! Every Sanyo phone made after the 8100 series has had speaker phone and an instant speaker phone key on it. This would be the first one I've seen in a while without!
All new phones have speaker, they don't have to have a dedicated button, it will show as a soft key option when a call is made or recieved.

Nice phone but...

Why do they make it a RadioHack exclusive??

"You've got questions, we have stupid looks on our face!"
I don't get it either. I always hear people saying... "Why all the flip phones? Don't they carry any bar phones?" They finally got the Moto SLVR, and it was a Best Buy exclusive. Now they have the Sanyo S1, and it is a Radio Shack exclusive.

I work for Radio Shack only the BSeers and Don't know jack about what i'm selling have a funny look on their faces.

Over all its an pretty good entry level phone
Actually, it's not a RadioShack exclusive. I work for an Indirect Dealer and I myself ordered the phone yesterday for our stock. I'm expecting them in today from the nearby warehouse.
maybe because radioshack owns 4,600 stores nationwide, and on top of that 1,200 indirect third party stores. now, if 4,600 stores have sprint and at&t there market profits would go up dramatically.
not by selling the phone, but by making more people...
