Sprint Seeking to Replace Forsee

Sprint Nextel's board of directors has begun a search for someone to replace current chairman and CEO Gary Forsee. The board and activist shareholder Ralph Whitworth appear to have lost confidence in Forsee after the $35 billion merger with Nextel two years ago has failed to produce positive growth for the company. Instead, Sprint has struggled as the third largest wireless operator in the U.S., ceding customers to AT&T and Verizon Wireless, and experiencing difficulties with the merger. The search began in August. There is no word on when a replacement will me named.

Capacity issues on IDEN/ Poor Customer Service/ PTT Iden/Cdma interoperability

I have to tell ya folks, I love Nextel for it's PTT, and I love Sprint for it's crystal clear voice quality, network reliability and competitive pricing. I think that alot of the struggle that Sprint is having right now is due to the capacity issues on the IDEN network. I loved Nextel up until the dropped and blocked calls began and such. Up until 2 years ago, everyone I knew loved Nextel too. Now,unfortunately, alot of the people I knew that had Nextel, now have Verizon. Personally, I am not too impressed with ATT or Verizon. Here are a couple suggestions I would have if I worked for Sprint/Nextel.
Listed in order of importance.
1. Fix capacity issues immediately to retain Nextel customers.
2. Beef up CDMA coverage and advertise it.
3.I...

As much as I dislike the leadership/lackthereof of Forsee, Nextel was to blame for the iDEN capacity issues.

Customers always say, "everything was great until the merger." Well, hate to break it to you, but a network doesn't turn to crap overnig...

I have to say that some of the things you said were false and some were true. There were capacity issues a while back because of the consensus plan and because of the Boost growing so quickly, but those issues have already minimized.

I switched from Nextel

I switched from Nextel because the coverage is spotty, I tried Sprint but they seem to have the same swiss cheese coverage model.
I understand that the coverage may be spotty with Nextel, but Sprint is about a complete 180 from Nextel. Also, how long ago was it that you were with Nextel or Sprint? A lot has changed in only a few years with regards to coverage!

That's wonderful for you, but for others, Verizon would be a poor choice...

Let's be realistic.

Having only the facts at hand(the headline story), I can say only a few things about this story. First, I knew when SPRINT bought out NEXTEL they would have some issues (big ones). Let's be realistic though, the SPRINT company does have less than desirable customer service and the store experience is enough to send you running with the bulls! I was a NEXTEL subscriber until I lost my job,got $80.00 behind and was attempting to make payment arrangements when they told me the full balance was due and you will be disconnected in a week if you don't pay. Well, on principal I let that happen and got the reconnect fee waived, the principal balance was whittled down to $45.
Based on the former, you would think I am going to slam dunk SPRINT/NEXT...

Sprint Employee

I am a care rep in employee accounts and I've been with Sprint for 2 years, in that time I haven't seen anything peticular impressive come from Mr. Forsee. I say we're moving in the right direction with care, products and services so if booting the CEO will help speed up that process or boost stock prices I say let's do it! I think Sprint is a great company that just needs the right leadership πŸ˜‰
I agree with you! I think that Customer Service is headed in the right direction, but it's going to take a long time before it actually gets to the place that it needs to be. Coming from a company that is around #1 in Customer Service, to this one, ...
