Sprint today announced that its forthcoming 4G high-speed data network based on WiMAX technology will be branded XOHM (pronounced "zoam"). The company also revealed that its new network sharing agreement with Clearwire will enable XOHM to cover 100 million people by the end of 2008 and - if the initial service is successful - 125 million by the end of 2010. The initial network build-out through 2008 is expected to cost Sprint $2.5 billion. As previously announced, the network is expected to soft launch by the end of 2007 in Chicago, Baltimore and Washington. The full XOHM commercial launch is planned for the first half of 2008.
