In order to improve the usability of its Maps program, Nokia will begin including an assisted GPS service on future phones that already have GPS built in. The goal of this A-GPS service is to help mobile phones get their first fix to the satellite much faster. In turn, this will speed up any location-based services that users might be running. Users of the Nokia N95 can load this assisted GPS service, along with the latest firmware, to their phones immediately through the Nokia Software Updater. A-GPS uses network operator data services to help satellites find the phone quicker.
