New Sanyo Katana Spotted on FCC Site

Sanyo is taking another stab at the Katana clamshell, which is likely bound for Sprint. The Sanyo SCP-6650 Katana II is the same thickness as its predecessor, but shrinks 2 millimeters in width and 4 millimeters in height. It features a larger external display which is positioned slightly lower on the front of the phone, and a 2.5mm headset jack, based on the pictures. It carries over the camera and Bluetooth and has an internal antenna. Little else is revealed in the filings, and neither Sprint nor Sanyo have discussed this new phone yet.

went to sprint conference seen katana 2 and katana deluxe

they are coming out with 2 of them one just like the old but bigger speaker 15mm little smaller and then the k deluxe all look metal like razors have evdo mp3 micro sd they are nice looking and full of features plus big speaker so they are loud i was impressed and i dont like the original katanas

I have seen this live and in person

same camera resolution, looks better on the display

no mp3

no evdo

MUCH better keypad (like way WAY WAAAAAAYYYYYY better)

They are also releasing the Katana DLX, which does have an MP3 player, and is EVDO. I got to play with it earlier this week.

😕 😕 I MUST HAVE ANALOG FOR MY THIRD PHONE!!! I ASSUME THE DLX DOES NOT AS IT IS EVDO, BUT THE KATANA II SHOULD BE AMPS LIKE THE NEW SANYO 3200!?!? DOES ANYONE HAVE A DEFINITIVE ANSWER REGARDING THIS??? THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP. 🙂 😕 😕

Does it fix the speaker volume.

This phone the 6600 had a known issue with a low speaker volume. 😢

Hope this is one of the main things the 6650 will fix, also will this phone be EVDO?

As a side note

Every time I glance at the name Katana, I think it says Katrina which is kinda confusing 👀

Ive seen the K2... i attended the Data Evolution Tour and one of the fellow attendees was Beta Testing it... it doesnt have a SD card slot... the key pad looks prettier and its a tad nicer to hold and handle... thats about it... nothing to swoon over ...
