Nokia today announced the 5700, a twisting smartphone that appears to be a cross between the 5300 XpressMusic sold on T-Mobile and the 3250, which was the first Nokia to feature this rotating design. It also runs S60 like the 3250, this time using version 3.1. The 5700 features a large QVGA screen, quad-band GSM/EDGE, WCDMA 2100, stereo Bluetooth and a 3.5mm headset jack. The rotating portion contains a numeric keypad for traditional use, a 2 Megapixel camera that can point out for pictures or towards the user for video calls, and playback controls for music. Rotating the keypad will switch the 5700 to the appropriate mode without any additional key presses.

is it coming to U.s ?

after reading the full story i'm now wondering if this is coming to t-mobile u.s. Anybody know ?
My guess is no. If it were it would have wcdma 1900. I could be modified by a few chip changes so that a GSM provider like Cingular could use it. But, given the way Cingular has totally jerked around Nokia on the N75, my guess is that Nokia will look ...

No.

They could make a US version of it, but this version is WCDMA 2100, which means it's officially for Europe/Asia only.

Since it does have quad-band GSM, you will certainly be able to import unlocked units and use them here, though.

Glad to see this design resurface

I always liked the Rubik's design on the 3250. Don't get me wrong. I'm not a fan of bar phones at all, but I really liked how its design allowed the user to rotate the camera, number pad, and audio controls.

Now, I just wish that they would bring back the design of the N90. In my opinion, the Nokia N90 had the most practical design of any phone I've ever seen. Not so much the coolest or prettiest design when you compare it to things like the Sidekick and those fashionable swivel phones and I don't mean that it was designed with the coolest features. I mean that if you were looking for a flip phone (cuz you hate locking keys and screen scratches) that had a camera, all of the moving parts on this phone were laid out in a way that mad...
