Apple today kicked off MacWorld by announcing the highly anticipated smartphone. The iPhone is a slim, 11.3 mm thick, bar shaped device that only has a touchscreen and speaker on the front. On the back is simply a 2 megapixel camera. The phone is controlled through the screen, which features a multi-touch interface that allows you to press and slide controls with multiple fingers at once. The device features quad-band GSM/EDGE, a 2 Megapixel camera, 8 GB memory, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. There is an accelerometer built in that automatically senses orientation and switches the screen to match. The iPhone runs a slimmed down version of OS X with applications for music and full screen video playback, a web browser and phone related applications including calling and messaging.

Lets be honest...

After reading countless posts I had just this to say. SO many nay sayers but the bottom line is this, Apple makes great products, this phone is going to be hottest seller of the year, the price is what the Razor launched with. Let's be realistic, this is the phone to have. Will it have initial bugs, YEs is this a piece of junk NO. Will it be UMTS no.. is this a concern.. not really , did you know you can still watch full quality videos over EDGE.. Theres alot of people it seems wishing this phone bad luck, and hoping it fails. I think that this phone is so revolutionary. Cell phones are often complex .. this will be simple, Will it be Unlockable, no, will it be able to be used on other carriers, ofcourse not. Is it an exclusive yes. Will the...

Thank you. That is what I have been trying to tell poeple! and I wouldn't doubt if the 2nd or 3rd generations of the iPhone will be 3G. also the price will go down. the RAZR launched at about $500 and now it sits at $30 w/ contract. so I doubt the...

Fine by me as I never would have switched to the big checkmark.. but interesting none the less... And I sincerely hope Apple is indeed the heavily involved with support for the device.. left to Cingy and it would be an unmitigated disaster...

ATT giving 1 1/2 years for new uphone purchasers Free!

Jim Cramer, host of CNBC's "Mad Money, and director of "TheStreet.com," says AT&T is planning to steal away Verizon Wireless subscribers by an enticing offer to go along with the iPhone: Free AT&T Wireless subscription for a year and a half with the purchase of Apple's iPhone.

In essence, this would substantially lower the perceived price of the iPhone, providing a great incentive for early adopters.

Oh boy....Apple, you done messed up now...

So....Im sure you have all heard about the newest and most exciting phone that will be hitting the market. Ah yes you say...the new Apple Phone!!! Well this thing sounds amazing, but there are some definite downsides to the manufacturing of this phone. But Ill wait til there is one in my hands to demo before I get into that. The #1 problem with this phone as of now is what carrier it is launching on. CINGULAR??????What in Gods name would posses them to pick Cingular. Mine as well have picked Revol to carry the damn thing. Guranteed this phone does not hit its full potential until it is on the proper network to not only support the market that this phone is targeted at, but to have a carrier that will be able to provide a reliable service for...

Unlocking iPhone

With Apple and Cingular not wanting the iPhone unlocked, how will that work with the U.S. Copyright Office ruling that all cellphones can legally be unlocked?
The legal ruling was that cellphones can be unlocked, not that the companies are legally obligated to unlock the phones for any reason. If Cing and Apple do not want to provide unlock codes (or make it possible to even have an unlock code feature avai...

Syncing with Windows PC's?

For those of us who don't know, will the iPhone be able to sync with home computers and laptops that are Windows based PCs? Since it runs OSX, I am not sure. I have an Ipod and it syncs fine, but its not running the OSX software. Has anyone heard? Whats the word out there?
It is compatible with Windows PCs and with Macs. There should be no problems

Embedded Battery?

It appears that the IPhone would have an embedded battery, and I think that would be a major oversight in design, especially for the business-end user. Any thoughts?
That's how they do things - embedding the battery is a design choice, and it saves space. That's how the iPods have always been.

Speaking of Business end users. . . they get nothin'

iPhone sweeter than your sisters Kool-Aid

🀀 This is the sweetest phone to hit the market, not because it by Mac πŸ™„ ,but because we are getting closer to having a reliable all-in-one device. One device that has the power and quality of all the things we carry in our pockets, or backpacks. 8gb flash drive, no its no 40gb but its a step towards the future. 2megpx camera obviously not 5megpx but headed in the right direction. A operating system the works better than the windows mobile, defintently a step in the right direction. Most people cant afford this device, and i am one of them however, i would love to have it! why no cdma

Did Sprint and verizon miss the boat on this one? Was Apple too hard to work with?
cdma is inferior... also apple wants to distribuite this phone world wide (obviously).. and GSM is considered a world standard.... only the US is behind in this one.. plus VZW and sprint suck.
