The FCC approved the merger between BellSouth and the new AT&T (formerly SBC) last Friday. Immediately after the approval was announced, AT&T posted information on how the merger will affect its various businesses including Cingular. Cingular is a joint venture of AT&T and BellSouth. The company will begin to rebrand Cingular as AT&T in early 2007, however it might not call the service AT&T Wireless. AT&T has not announced any specifics about the change, except to explain that customers will be able to keep their current phones and calling plans, and that AT&T will offer bundles including wireless service in addition to wireline voice and data plans.
