Cingular today announced a downloadable Java client that will allow its subscribers to access MySpace. The client provides access to a number of MySpace's social networking features from the handset. Users can upload photos, read and write mail, check up on their friends, as well as update and catch up on blogs. The mobile service will cost $3 per month and is available for most newer Cingular handsets. Helio offers access to these same features through a web interface for free on all its handsets. It is reportedly working on a similar downloadable client due out early next year. Cingular also offers MySpace alerts to all subscribers, which text a user whenever they have received a new message, comment or invitation.

This so-called "mobile" world is getting out of hand

There was an interesting article somewhere that I read recently. It's basic theme was that we are creating a very bad situation with all these electronic devices (i.e. mobile phone with e-mail, Nintendo, Playstation, etc...). It is preventing us from being social, preventing us from going out, keeping us from doing more outdoor activities, keeping us attached to work for longer than we need to be. This is madness.

I have a PDA/Mobile phone and after I read the article I all of sudden understood it. I am attached to the damn device! I cannot leave it alone, always on it. I was at a birthday party this past weekend and found that I was isolating myself because I was using the PDA checking e-mail and news etc... A little self control...

Is it even a big deal?

Sorry, I must be a bit late, but isn't MySpace a little bit over commercialized to be cool or is it still growing strong? I might just be jaded because I graduated from highschool and dumped MySpace after watching 10 friendships ruined from rumors on the site.
At any rate, it just seems like Cingular is a little late with Helio there.
How does this jive with the deal between Helio and MySpace?
If this is true, and somebody's life was 'ruined' from a 'rumor' that got started on the internet... Well, that's very lame... 🙄

Well it may be a little late, but I know I have no intrest in getting a helio just for myspace. I have cingular and have been happy with my service since. Have gone threw the other companies i.e. verizon, just like many of you. But I would not mind th...

IMHO`

just think everyone here has an issue with this because not to many ppl on here use myspace

I use it both for my kennel site and a personal one for friends and i would and will use this

weather you like myspace or not its a kewl thing when your phone company has something like this

if it were say .. a special phone scoop program then everyone here would jump on it .. just cause its mysapce ppl act like its something bad

if you dont use it .. good for you but for ppl like me who do it is a big deal .. i just dont think its going to be available for the 8525

and for the record something in the 8525 doesnt allow to leave comments and reply to friends so this would be something id use

hell anything cingular has that no one else...

Why?

I have two questions.

1. Why the monthly fee?

2. Why pay for this when you can use opera mini and not have to pay?
The difference between this and using opera mini to sign on is a few reasons.
1. You can upload photos to the site(you cant with opera mini
2.It sounds from the article it is alot easier to add friends, post comments and blogs.
3. You can search for...
