Americans Can Buy A Phone To Help Fight AIDS

Motorola and (Product) RED - a company co-founded by U2 lead singer Bono - have teamed up to bring a (RED) phone to the US. The RED MOTORAZR is a red V3m that will be available from Sprint and US Cellular. For every RED MOTORAZR that is purchased, $17 will be donated to (RED)'s efforts to support The Global Fund, which works to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria in Africa. Earlier this year, carriers in Europe which launched the RED SLVR also agreed to donate 5% of RED subscribers' monthly bills to (Product) RED. American carriers will only be donating a portion of the phone purchase. The RED MOTORAZR V3m will be shipping in early November, and can be pre-ordered now from Sprint. The phone features EV-DO data, a 1.3 Megapixel camera and a MicroSD card slot.

It's the least you can do! (Literally)

$400 phone and $17 goes to charity. I'm sure there will be spent more on advertising their great charity than will go to the actual charity itself. Just write a check for $17 and skip these crappy phones. I would write a check for $100 if i didn't have to get a motorola.
ai was thinking the same thing. and Euro carriers were also donating some of their suscribers' montly bills to the cause also.
The razr hasn't been a $400 phone in a long time. And I don't think the V3m was ever a $400 phone, even when buying it outright with no contract.

No kidding! Moto's are junk and the foundation deserves the money.
Why not just send condoms to these people, that's the cure (PREVENTION)to aids, not money, it's condoms, Africans are toooooo stupid to use condoms
...
well, the way I see it, if you are going to buy a phone anyways, you might as well buy this one and help someone out. People in general won't send money just to help places out, but people will buy something over another thing if it goes to a good ca...

If you cant get the phone - get the BT headset!

This is such a great idea - instead of just hitting people up for a donation - have them buy a product they would normally buy anyway and a portion of that purchase goes to project RED. Ive already got a shirt from the Gap and the RED nano - if you are a sprint or us cellular customer - go get this phone! Im on Verizon - but Moto is selling a RED BT headset that ill get to support this. AIDS should be cured!

SINCE WHEN DID US CELLULAR GET EV-DO??? BECAUSE THERE IS NO USE IN THEM GETTING THE PHONE IF THEY CANNOT SUPPORT EV-DO.

I dont get it RICH/ERIC

First you say that $17 will be donated for ever RED RAZR purchased and then you say that american carriers will not be donating any money... ๐Ÿคจ

So who IS donating the money?? is it not US CELL and Sprint??
...motorola?

they profit off of phone slaes too, and as you can see in the article, it says MOTOROLA is teaming up with project red.
...
I think its funny that they are trying to get donations for aids which is for the most part a preventable disease; not to mention Americans are dying at much faster rates from cancer, heart disease...ect. I think the campaign should not donate to aids...
