(updated) Motorola today announced several new phones, in addition to the several announced yesterday:

Also announced were two new entry-level CDMA phones based on the company's most affordable GSM phones for emerging markets. Both are basic bar-style models, one with a color display and one without. The company also announced plans to add WiFi, WiMax, and DVB-H technology to select phones in its iDEN lineup. Finally, the company also announced that the FONE is part of the new "Scalpel" platform, which will be the basis for a whole new line of phones including all major form factors and mobile technologies in 2007.

FONE???

Just like i said on my previous thread on the topic below this one in the main news page...

have companies have given up on naming their phones? I mean...talk about like giving up. FONE?

And I do agree that although the "thin" era is in and thats what is selling, i think its about time we (or someone) try to figure out the next big craze and capitalize on it.

The Motorola FATARSE. "Forgot those ultra thin phones, this thing is the size of a Buick and u need a special permit to even own one! Be the envy of all your friends when they see you carry this bad boy around. It's Analog for your convience and also has top of the line features!!!"

--VOICE MAIL
--FLASH LIGHT
--BLENDER
--EMERGENCY SHELTER
--DEFIBULATOR

and so much ...

I don't see all you people b'sing about the thin phone craze comming up with anything else. You just keep saying "they" need to think of something different.

Well geez... how many other ways do you think a cell phone can look and open?

This made me laugh...

🤣 When I saw yet another Motorola thin style phone coming out, I had to laugh. How many of these things are coming out? Calm down Motorola. We all know you love to make these thin phones but please, give it a rest. I'm now waiting to see what's next. "Motorola announces new phone code named 'THIN' ". 🤣

😎
don't you mean the THN 😁
Oh, of course of course. "Announcing the all new Motorola THN! Featuring super thin design and it comes in 27 different colors! "
🤣

That's what's next. A wafer thin phone.

Is one of these Motorolas for SPRINT?

The store sprint rep. told me last week that motorola was making a new razor type phone that will be a candy bar style for sprint. He did not know a release date for it though, I was just wondering if one of these may be the one because there is a CDMA verson in this group.
Yes, the SLVR L7c is for Sprint. RIght, Rich?
...
I have heard the same thing about the SLVR L7c from a guy at the Sprint Store here in Dallas. The only problem I see with the SLVR L7c coming to Sprint is that on the specs that Phonescoop & Motorola provide, it says the phone is running BREW, not JAV...

camera on FONE?

does the FONE have a camera? if it does, im sold. i dont even want a super high end phone. if it has a camera and looks cool, i want it. the display technology seems cool. as for the new UI, seems cool but w/ Verizon, it'll probably have their POS UI.

1 thing tho... FONE?!!? what kind of name is THAT!?!?!?!
No. The FONE F3 and F3c (the CDMA version) do not have a camera.

This is an "emerging markets" phone, which means it is designed to be absolutely as affordable as possible, for folks in Africa, India, China, etc. who might have trouble affording a ...

My Beef with Motorola

While the newly announced Motorola phones look exciting, Motorola is still missing a key component for me to take their offerings seriously.

I'm primarily a business user and must have a reliable solution to sync my Outlook contacts and calendar with my phone, preferably using Bluetooth.

When Motorola dumped TrueSync and went with Mobile Phone Tools (Avanquest nee BVRP), they made a huge mistake in judgement. TrueSync worked reliably while MPT may be the worst software package ever written.

I've tried MPT several times over the years, including recently with a V3c, and have experienced corrupted Outlook databases, intermittent syncing, trashed contact records, sync failures, and all other sorts of maladies. If you have the stomach f...

The First SCPL

The FONE is the first handset from the next generation SCPL platform, am I correct, Rich?
That's what they said in the meeting. Next year there will be more form factors and higher-end products on the SCPL platform (they're calling it SCPL Broadband). Just like RAZR and it's spinoffs replaced the Triplets, SCPL and it's spinoffs will rep...

FINALLY some iDen news

😉 What can I say, I cheer for the underdogs, I embrace the rejected, I defend the criticized.

So im really glad to hear some new iDen news. What with the new dual mode ic502 phone coming soon, and the company announcing plans to add WiFi, WiMax, and DVB-H technology to select phones in its iDEN lineup. This should prove an interesting end of the year for NEXTEL... Excuse me SPRING TOGETHER WITH NEXTEL

P.S. Hey Rich, you got any pics of this ic502?
