This fall Verizon is set to make a number of changes to its contract and policies that have prevented subscriber from moving to another carrier or even to a different phone or calling plan on Verizon. Verizon will offer new contracts that will prorate the early cancellation fee for all new subscribers or subscribers who sign a new contract. In addition, the carrier will offer many changes to encourage subscribers to stay with them. Current subscribers paying at least $50 per month will be allowed to upgrade to a new phone at the new subscriber price after 12 months of service. They will also continue to allow subscribers to upgrade their phone for free every two years. If a phone stops working after it is out of warranty, Verizon will replace it for $50. Verizon will make switching to a new handset easier by offering to backup and restore contact lists online for free. In addition, the carrier will also make an effort notify customers if a different calling plan fits their calling habits better.
