High Priced MVNO Launches

Article Comments  42

May 3, 2006, 4:58 PM   by (staff)

Voce today launched a small-scale rollout of its service in the Los Angeles area. This MVNO is targeting wealthy users more interested in talking on their phone than anything else. Subscribers will pay a $1000 membership fee and then pay $400 for unlimited voice service in the US. Additional charges will apply for international calls or calls made while roaming abroad. Because it is an MVNO on Cingular's network, Voce cannot offer data services with its phones. Membership includes a new phone every year as well as additional services like a concierge and access to private jets. Voce is launching with two handsets - the Nokia 8801 in Black or a Motorola RAZR with black, white or tan leather shells.

hey rich or eric?

why can't they offer data?

is this a clause cingular puts on ALL mv-no's (now i think of it tracfone has no data).

or just certain ones or this one in specific?
oh and lastly does this mean the 8801 will be coming to cingular too? 😳

Paris Hilton can't wait.

🤣 This is the most insane promotion I've ever seen but if you can afford it why not spend $1400 for unlimited calling and still get charged for roaming. Whoever this provider is with Cingular they are genius for coming up with this. 😎
you'll only get charged for international roaming, not domestic. it's still crazy expensive though.

For this price point....

1. having your own dedicated cell site
2. having your own dedicated satelite
3. having your own dedicated staff to tend to your personal needs

finally!

i've always wanted to pay $400 per month for cingular service, finally someone has the guts to offer such a innovative and bold service!
Alls I know, and alls I keep saying, is that GSM service sucks in most major cities. I'm not a fanboy of any mobile technology ('cept Helio lately) but CDMA owns GSM in a crowded metro area, especially in buildings.

Plus, don't they mean an AT&T M...
