Nokia Announces Nseries Phones With Photo Focus

Nokia today unveiled two new Nseries phones with a number of features for those as interested in pictures as in telephony. The new models feature large 2.4" QVGA displays, 3 Megapixel cameras with Carl Zeiss lenses and powerful flashes, and a new Xpress Share client that makes sending pictures as mms, email and even to Flickr accounts easy. Both phones use S60 3rd Edition, including Nokia's new full web browser as well as a new camera interface. Neither of these phones is expected on an American carrier, but Nokia will be selling both at new flaghship stores they will open around the country. Both phones are due out in the 3rd quarter.

  • N73: A bar-style phone designed as the successor to the very popular N70. Quadband GSM/EDGE (some models will also include 2100 MHz UMTS). The N73 uses an auto-focus Tessar lens hidden behind a spring-assisted cover. Features 42 MB built-in memory, MiniSD slot, and Bluetooth 2.0. Also features a music player that supports MP3, AAC, AAC+ and WMA, video player with streaming support, FM radio with visual radio and stereo speakers.
  • N93: A large multi-axis folder with a similar hinge to the N92 Mobile TV phone. 900/1800/1900 GSM/EDGE plus 2100 MHz UMTS. The N93 upgrades the camera to an auto-focus Vario Tessar lens with 3x optical zoom. It is focused as much on video as still recording and can capture 30 fps VGA MPEG-4 movies. Features 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, MiniSD slot and TV-out. Also features music player that supports MP3, AAC, AAC+ and WMA, video player with streaming support, and FM radio with visual radio.
Nokia also announced the N72 bar-style phone for Asian markets. The N72 specs and features are nearly identical to the existing N70 model.
