Sidekick 3 Revealed By FCC

The next Sidekick was approved by the FCC yesterday. Although a number of documents and pictures are still confidential, there are clear pictures of the front and back in the filing with T-Mobile branding present. The new body has a smooth face that uses resistive buttons hidden below the surface of the phone and trades out the scroll wheel for what appears to be the scroll nub from Apple's Mighty Mouse. The back shows a 1.3 Megapixel camera with flash, memory card slot and removable battery. In addition to these physical improvements the Sidekick 3 will have tri-band GSM (850/1800/1900) as well as Bluetooth.

any new news, nothing to discuss? what happened here? is there a release date yet; rumors at least?
There won't be any official info, until June 6th, when the FCC is allowed to give out all the SK3 specs, and other info, since Sharp filed a 45 day request for confidentiality on April 22nd.
Is it me or....
does the Sidekick keep getting bigger??? I think it looks bigger and the features listed are not too impressive.... Whats the difference between a Sidekick and MDA?
The difis huge!!! The MDA is a Pocket PC Phone with Windows Mobile 5. The Side Kick has a Internet browser, text/IM and email clients and thats it. The MDA is a full blown PDA, while the side kick is a phone with a keyboard and internet browser.

While reading on Engadgetmobile.com, they have an article claiming that a man named John M., showed them a pic of the T-Mobile Sidekick 3, and that its from their to come Sidekick 3 advertising campaign for the device.

Looks much better than sk2
Was checking out the specs and pictures of the sk3 other than ones posted on PS. It is actually 20% smaller than the sk2. Looks very stylish. One of the major differences is the keypad. The buttons are hard top instead of soft buttons that fall apart. And the removable battery will make the troubleshooting a lot easier.
yeah it looks better but i wonder which price plan would be avaiable for t-mobile customers? I mean we took out the sidekick pp's out from smart access so yeah..no sk3 for them! that sux

I don't like the screen... It looks even more fragile than SK2... LCD screens break too easily on SKs! I don't like the way the buttons are set in... At least the SK2 LCD screen had some protection from the jump pad and scroll wheel...

i talked to an actual tmobile rep
so, i go into a tmobile store and ask him about the sidekick 3 coming out...he says that all they have heard is that it is expect to come out early november???????? 👿 👿 👿 , that made me kinda mad. also he said that he thinks its a let down and that people should just stick with the sk2 because the 3 isnt a big improvement and its larger...

Personally, I like the looks of the Sidekick 3 (sk3).
I think it's pretty cool and different looking than everything else out there...I guess to each his own...huh? 😛 ; beauty is in the eye of the beholder!... 😁
Furthermore, the features listed seem pretty cool as well. At least it has what other phones have and not lacking like the first two sidekicks; hopefully, it will have EDGE as well or possibly 3G, but T-Mobile needs to offer 3G in order to be useful.
Personally, I like the device and may get one when it comes out... 🙂

I agree.... to each his/her own... I personally think this phone is way too big... in fact i think its bigger than before... Why do i want a phone that big when I can get all those features such as megapixel camera, bluetooth and quad band GSM in a RA...

Sidekick 3 (SK3)
Just FYI: PhoneScoop has it correct in stating that the Sidekick 3 is TRI-BAND GSM (850/1800/1900); so I am a little confused when people write-in stating that it is QUAD-BAND and other sites claim Quad-Band as well, when the FCC also states in their documentation TRI-BAND as well...hmmm? 😕
The changed it to Tri-band since I told them to check the documents carefully, and look at what the FCC stated for the US and Canada markets. I think the FCC didn't test the internationally version since Europe and other parts overseas just got the SK...

Interesting to see that this has been announced, considering that we were told from official reps for Sharp. My guess is that Sharp isn't making it, but I can't get the FCC page to load.

It seems possible that a new hardware devloper would be in the mix based on the amount of added stuff, I can't wait to see the keypad, and I hope it's a lot better than it was on the sidekick 1 and 2.
