Nokia today confirmed with Phone Scoop that next year the manufacturer will launch a range of gaming-optimised S60 smartphones. Like the Nseries and Eseries, each device in the line will use a different form factors or focus on different secondary functions (photography, mobile TV, or media playback for example). Similar to the Eseries, each handset in the gaming line will also feature a common set of hardware and software requirements, allowing developers to create games with certain performance and hardware expectations. Nokia intends to reveal this baseline to developers by July. They have not yet said when the phones themselves will be announced.
