FCC Shows Rugged Pocket PC Phone From Panasonic

The FCC approved a new ruggedized Pocket PC Phone from Panasonic. The Toughbook CF-P2 has both GSM/GPRS 850/1900 as well as 802.11b Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It also features n full numeric keypad, LCD screen with light sensor for automatic backlight adjustment and SD slot. It runs Windows Mobile 2003 SE. Since it is part of Panasonic's Toughbook line, the CF-P2 is ruggedized against a range of shock, temperature and humidity. However it is not designed for use in extreme conditions (the arctic, deserts, under water). The toughbook will most likely be available through Panasonic and their resellers, not through carriers.

😳 its a very...different design... i guess not everybody is after beauty in phones... but i am not one of them. please if anyone knows of a smartphone with this same type wifi, please post your response and personal feedback on the device...

Return of the Duramax

I had a Panasonic DuraMax several years ago. It wasn't very feature-rich, no more so than a basic Nokia. The phone than can be run over by a car and thrown against the wall and keep on un-affected is apparently being reborn. Who cares if your phone is pretty? I think this is sweet.
Let's see if this phone actually gets released or if it goes the way of most of the concept-phones that show up on the Internet and never deliver. I'm still waiting for the Linux-based Motorola A760 and the Motorola MPX, along with countless others that disappointingly disapear.
