Cingular To Launch First EDGE Blackberry

Cingular today announced with Research in Motion (RIM) they will premiere the new Blackberry with EDGE. The 8700c features a full QWERTY thumb keyboard in a new slimmer, more modern looking form factor. It also features quad-band GSM / GPRS (EDGE), Bluetooth, and a new QVGA screen. The new device has a number of improvements designed to improve both the calling and web browsing experience as well as RIM's solid push email implementation. The RIM 8700c will be a Cingular exclusive, available on November 21 for $300 with a 2 year contract and mail in-rebate.

Blackberry Push 2 Talk

Wouldnt it be interesting if the 8700C supported Cingulars New Push 2 Talk Service.

Wait a minute...

Hold the phone. A blackberry? A RESEARCH IN MOTION Blackberry? Well, it looks like the RIM team is going to try to go out with a bang before they go out of business thanks to that patent lawsuit which had appeals rejected by none other than the Federal Supreme Court. Does anybody know when they are going to have to stop selling them in the US? I highly doubt that they have enough liquidity to pay the 400 something odd million that they owe, so the doomsday is going to have to come sometime soon. 😢

you highly doubt they have enough liquidity? lol.. well, they already put asside that $450 million that they have already agreed with NTP on. they have plenty of cash to spend especially when it comes with destroying their biggest sector with licenses...
