Nokia Delays N91 Music Phone

Nokia today said it would delay the launch of their highly anticipated music phone until first quarter of 2006. The N91 music phone was announced at Nokia's NSeries launch this spring and was slated for fourth quarter of this year. Nokia is delaying the launch to make sure they get the Windows Media DRM implementation right so the phone works with as many music services as possible. This phone most likely be the first with the Loudeye client Nokia announced last spring at 3GSM which is compatible with both OMA DRM for downloads from mobile music stores and WMA DRM for compatibility with services like Napster and MSN Music. Separately Nokia launched announced a music version of their 6630 smartphone yesterday to fill the void left by the N91's delay. The handset includes a new music player, a headphone adapter, and 256 MB RS-MMC card with USB card reader.
