T-Mobile today said they have already launched EDGE data on 90% of their GPRS network. Yesterday changes on the carrier's website revealed they expected to complete their EDGE network by the end of September. On the first day of the month, the network is already 90% complete. As with Cingular, which has already launched EDGE over most their network, data prices will remain the same despite the fact that EDGE is capable of speeds up to four times faster than regular GPRS.

The launch will establish EDGE coverage within approximately 70 percent of our existing GPRS coverage area in major markets.

T-Mobile does not plan to increase prices for customers to use EDGE, as the service will be a seamless improvement to their existing GPRS coverage. However, customers will need to have EDGE-enabled handsets to experience the increased data speeds associated with the network. T-Mobile already offers two devices that support EDGE - the Nokia 3220 ...

Nice job...

This will definitely help Tmobile's appeal...at least in my eyes it will.

WOW

this is quite impressive, already 90% done!
& the prices are staying the same!

out of curiosity, how much does cingular charge for unlimited EDGE usage???
$4.99 for 1m, which is more than 95% will ever need, $9.99 for 5m which covers a remaining 4.8% of customers, and then there's 10m at $14.99 which is capable of covering 2/3 of the remaining .2% of media net customers, and the other 1/3 of .2% can get...
