Sprint, Nextel Complete Merger

Sprint and Nextel have just announced that their merger is complete. As reported previously, the companies will begin working together, and trading together on Monday. Attempts by Sprint affiliates to delay or stop the merger failed, as no injunctions were issued. No immediate changes or benefits will be apparent to subscribers. Sprint Nextel has said they will begin advertising the merger to subscribers soon, and that the two networks remain separate for the time being. Separately Sprint noted that US Unwired has officially accepted Sprint's purchase offer and that the transaction will occur soon.
