Enfora and LeapFrog, an interactive toy company, today announced the TicTalk phone for young children. Like the Firefly and Wherifone, the TicTalk has a limited feature set, restricted call list and many safety features. Because it's a LeapFrog device, it also adds in educational mini-games and a PIM functions not present in other kids phones. All phone numbers and information are entered in the phone using a web interface, and then transferred to the handset. The TicTalk not yet offered by any carrier, however it is definitely a GSM device and LeapFrog claims 100 minutes will cost $25.

It might just be profitable

Although its pretty sad that an educational company is targeting kids and parents in this way, it may actually pay off really well. I wonder who's network they'r using, hopefull cingular so they've got good coverage but i wouldn't be surprised if it were cheapo tmobile
The Magical LeapFrog Network is what they shall use. It spans across the entire U.S.A and is powered by love 🙂

who cares

kids under the age of 13 dont need cell phones
But that isn't going to stop mommy and daddy from buying their child one.

At least, this way, they can CONTROL their child's phone.

Great, Let's radiate our kids even earlier than before

Rather than purchasing this product I think I'll just have my kid stand with his head in front of the microwave.
Nah, microwave ovens have protective grates built into the casings to avoid irradiating the people around them.

This is SO much more effective!

Hey! I thought LeapFrog was a pre-school age toymaker.....should a kid have a cell when they can bar...

lol have you seen the lil cartoon in the newspaper with the baby and the mom and dad. the parents are so happy because baby has texted his first word "dad." He did not say his first word but rather texted it....lol
OH please. Radiation is everywhere you moron. Stay home and put yourself in a plastic bubble if you're that concerned
...
You just got a Sh*T load of radiation by sitting in front of your computer..............
Also by watching your TV, standing next to your microwave or refrigerator, walking outside and not noticing the invisible cell phone/radio/TV etc signals bouncin...

😲 i cant even believe leapfrog would even try to make a phone. it doesnt make any damn sense. you make freakin kids toys not cell phones, stay away from the adult toys. leave that to the big boys, stay in the kids place.

Sounds Good

Oddly enough I like the Idead. A phone specially designed to be used by childern where they cannot overuse the phone. or do things with it the parents do not want.

Radiation aside because you get it everywhere. TVs, Microwaves, Computers, High Tension Powerlines, Hair driers, The sun, FM radios, Nuclear powerplants, Contaminated water, and Bad Neighborhoods. The amount of radiation you will get from a 2 minute call is nominal.

In a world where less and less people have a land line phone, this concept is great and very low cost.
