There is no question but that the 8800 (8801) is a derivative of the 8110 Matrix phone used by Neo i...

i actually see where your coming from. it looks sort of like it.
😳 Your logic on this one is completely flawed. If you were to say that this phone looks like the Matrix phone, except...... then it really doesn't look anything like it. If your logic is that it is and candybar looking slider, then all canybar slid...

Since when is stainless steel a "luxury metal"???

umm, I have spoons made from metals more precious than this phone.

What about Magnesium alloy? How about using lightweight Titanium?

0.5mp for the camera? When Samsung now has a 5.0mp phone? hahahha!

it's going to be ridiculous if they try to sell this hyped up piece of junk more than $400.
well i agree on the camera...5 mp? what is that? almost all the high end camera phones have 1.3mp and run about $200-300. hope this phone wont be over $400 ..ill be dissapointed

Durability?

Too many people look at just how cool the phone looks...we all know from the past that slider phones from the "Matrix Phone" to the LG 325 have all become well known for breaking very easily let alone becoming very annoying while trying to talk. Does anyone think this one will be any different? Especially since its from Nokia?
I must honestly disaggree on the breaking very easily. I bought a Siemens SL56 and it still works just fine, and the slider doesn't even feel lose at all. Plus I have a friend with the kyocera slider that only started getting loose after dropping dow...

Extremely NICE, but not LUXURIOUS

IF you want a LUXURIOUS phone, buy a VERTU. Vertu phones have Platinum casing, Sapphire crystal screen, Laser cut keypads etc etc. This phone costs $3000. You can check you this phone at www.vertu.com

The new Nokia doesn't have anything on the VERTU!
Also, just in case anyone didn't know, Vertu is a division of Nokia.

Man you guys are tough !

I think that phone is sweet as hell ! I LOVE those slide phones. And hell yeah that is going to be expensive, just look at it. But, $1000 I highly doubt it. I'm sure by the time it gets to a carrier, it will be around $500. I like to have phones that are different and that is certainly 1 of them. For someone who has the Razr, I would pick that 1 up in a heartbeat. To have the best phone, money is no object....... 😁
These are far from being the best phones (RAZR and this Nokia).

"Best" to me is when a phone has stats a little above par to most phone that are out there. Neither the RAZR or this Nokia have much above par compared to what else is out there, IMO....

No way in hell...

😳 Judging by the looks of the article on Mobile Tracker (http://www.mobiletracker.net/archives/2005/0 4/07/nokia-8800-8801), this is going to be one hell of an over-priced, under-developed piece of equipment. I can agree that style is rather important, but paying the estimated price tag of $1000.00 should warrant serious improvements in functionality (I mean...a .5 megapixel cam for starters????). Anyone else think this is a bit pricey for a paper weight?
there is no way i would pay a grand for that phone. sounds like a rip off to me

"Luxury"??

Why do these high-end "luxury phones" like this one and the Mobiado line, always have obscenely CRAPPY specs?? Sheesh.
By "Luxury", they obviously mean "style", which I have never cared about. I want a phone with performance, I don't care about how "pretty" it is...
...
What's crappy about the specs? 😕

A 208 x 208 pixel, 262,000-color display is way better than most Nokia Series 40 phones. The only other Nokia non-smartphone with that good a display is the just-announced 6230i.

Bluetooth, EDGE, 64 MB of memor...

Look at this Picture-- is the Pop-port gone??

Has Nokia abandoned the Po-port? It doesn't look like the Pop-port is here in this picture.

At last, a successor to 8890

and designed for North America, too. Can't wait to see it closer.

Just to be clear...

The metal area is NOT where the keypad slides back into. The metal part is just where the circuitry is. You can view the pictures at the link below:

What do you mean? I think the photos show pretty clearly that the metal area on the front is where the keypad slides down into.

Are you saying you think the display slides separately from the keypad? That doesn't appear possible from ...

Your link shows otherwise, Goofy Gus. That keypad slips back into the metal sheath

Hmmm.....

This phone sounds really interesting. Also sounds like it will be way more expensive than phones that do similar things. Will be interesting to see how it does
