AVRC

(AVRCP)

Audio/Video Remote Control Profile

A Bluetooth profile (mode) for controlling audio and/or video playback. The profile covers standard media control functionality such play, pause, stop, next, and previous.

AVRC is usually used in conjunction with the A2DP (stereo audio) or VDP (video) profile.

For example, a typical pair of stereo Bluetooth headphones uses A2DP to receive stereo audio from a phone, while AVRC is used to send play/pause/next commands from the headphones to the phone.
