Thats like trying to use a betamax tape in a VHS vcr. Actually a better analogy is thats like trying use a CD ROM of MAC software on a Windows PC. Just because its a CD-ROM doesnt mean whats on it can be read by your machine.
Likewise, jJust because the phones use the same frequency doesnt mean anything, the digital coding they use is totaly different.
