Globalstar vs Iridium in the Brit Virgin Islands

i am going sailing in a few weeks in the british virgin islands and am planning to rent a phone. Globalstar's website says they have coverage there but some rental providers i've talked to say Globalstar really doesn't work there. I'm looking for confirmation before i go rent a more expensive iridium phone. Has anyone used Globalstar while sailing in the BVI?

Were you able to use Globalstar in BVI. We are heading to the Bahamas for a few months on our boat and would like some feedback from an actual Globalstar user.
