Help with Sim/International travel

I've just purchased my first GSM phone, Nokia 6820 with ATTWS service.

I am traveling to the Philippines and Japan and would like to get a pre-paid SIM card since roaming charges are quite high. I just don't know if I can do this.

Could someone offer some insight on this. From my research, it looks like my phone is "locked this mean I cant use a pre-paid SIM?

Thanks for the help!

If you bought it from AT&T, then yes, it's locked, which means you can't use a prepaid SIM in it. ☹️

There are third parties that have the ability to unlock your phone. This will void the warranty if it means anything to you. In Mountain View, CA you can call Kangaroo Mobile they can unlock any ATTWS phone and transfer your phone book as well. Their phone number is 650-965-4252. Do not try this your self with a kit on Ebay you may fry your phone
