Verizon LG 4500 in Viet Nam

I have a LG 4500 that supports CDMA 800 / CDMA 1900. Will this work in Vietnam or can I make it work there. I want a local number as I will be making many local calls. I'm a newbie at international calling

Vietnam appears to be solely GSM. A CDMA phone wouldn't work there anyway.

Get your facts straight - SLD Telcom, a South Korean phone consortium, runs a CDMA network through Saigon Postel that provides 3G services in a number of the major cities in Vietnam (and have been doing this for about 2 years now). You would still have a couple of problems though - first, I believe a large portion of their network may be CDMA 450 (which your phone doesn't support). Secondly, all American carriers put subsidy locks on their phones to keep you from using them on other networks. Honestly, I could tell you quite a bit about international roaming for GSM phones (what I sell), but I really don't know a lot about CMDA technology. GSM only countries are the exception, not the rule in East and SE Asia.

You can most likely have NAM 2 set up for local service.
