is polyphonic the same thing as mp3 ringers?

Polyphonic is like the instrumental version & MP3 is like the song you hear on the radio.

Pretty much true PsYkE.

Polyphonic is still a MIDI ring tone. It can just play multiple chords at once.

An MP3 ringtone is an actual MP3 file. Lower bit rate and generally mono as opposed to the higher bit rate and stero MP3 you'd play on your computer or MP3 player.

Both are computer files. One is a compressed audio file (MP3) the other is a musical instrument digital interface file. Meaning a computerized version of a musical instrument.
