AMR Hassle!

so, here's the deal...

I make my own ringtones from soundbytes I record as voice records - then I mail them to myself as mms messages and save them from there. But I've noticed that when I assign them as ringtones - and I keep my phone set most often to vibe and ring combo - they often short my phone out completely...not so much when i'm getting a text, but if someone calls me and they have an amr tone assigned to them, the phone will vibe once and then just go blank.

Sucks.

So, I figured, okay - maybe if I convert them to mp3s, that wont happen. but the phone won't let me have an mp3, so the files get converted back to amr's in the downloading process. Now, I know I was able to accept mp3's on my phone before - not sure what's goin...
