The Japanese company NTT DoCoMo has been testing a 4G communication system prototype with 4x4 MIMO called VSF-OFCDM at 100 Mbit/s while moving, and 1 Gbit/s while stationary. NTT DoCoMo recently reached 5 Gbit/s with 12x12 MIMO while moving at 10 km/h,[7] and is planning on releasing the first commercial network in 2010.

Nice find on Wikipedia but that is actually old news. Docomo has been doing a lot of testing with all kinds of technologies from VSF-OFCDM and others. I just wanted to note that to achieve those speeds they need to have ideal conditions and actually designate a lot of spectrum per carrier. The most important to the test and announcement, although it is old, that they obtained those speeds while actually moving, which is slow but still moving. That is key.

yeah I was talking to a japanesse local and he is seeing speeds of 10mbs around toyko on his handset. So they are way ahead of us in speed with data.
