Re: Which is better CDMA or GSM???
1) You stated that battery life is all about power consumption.
2) What consumes power?
2a) Backlighting
2b) Internal Processor
2c) Transmitting
2d) Others
Under 2c, CDMA will enter slotted mode when it is sitting idle. That means the handset effectively sleeps when it is not receiving a page from the base station. It wakes up in an assigned time slot to check if there are any calls, or messages it needs to update. This saves battery power. While in conversation, the handset sets it's vocoder to full rate when the user is actively talking. If the user is listening, the vocoder will reduce transmition to 1/8th rate, so as to not transmit background noise, and to save battery life.
There's a few examples of how CDMA will help save battery life.
