Not sure if you can help me, but I cant seem to find anything anywhere else. Ive made a good share of programs for pcs before, chat clients being the bulk of them. Now im wanting to make a simple chat client for my cell phone. Could you point me in the right direction? What programs would I use to make a mobile phone app? What do I need to know? Dont really have any clue where to start. It would be pretty awesome if you could help me out. Thanks.

You need to go it alone. Figure out what you need and then post it on www.rentacoder.com.
I've had some successes using rentacoder. But also a couple of failures. It all depends on who you select. Give it a try, not very expensive. I had my first beta software for less than $400.
