What's the point in using them? I guess they're kinda neat and fun to experiment with or whatever. I'm pretty sure the only reason guys used them in the first place (way back in the day) was because actual slugs weren't made yet. There's another technique called "cut shell" that I believe came about as a way of making an improvised "slug" before actual slugs existed.
