It was the setting for the Bloodmoon expansion.

Evidently, all of the old landmarks are still there too, but aged some 200 years.

Half of the island is also covered in ash because the Ministry of Truth crashed into Vivec City when Vivec died, causing Red Mountain to erupt.

Evidently, the Dunmer of Morrowind have fled to Solstheim and have been given refuge there, so there's lots of Morrowind-like architecture on parts of the island.
