It supports up to 1080p. My TV only supports 1080i.
Subjectively, I can say this: While you don't expect photorealism from a Mario game, the models are so smooth and the edges are so clean that 3D models look like 2D illustrations.
I can't even really describe how gorgeous Trine 2 is. When you get the chance, look at some HD footage of gameplay for the Director's Cut edition.
