So I have had my phone just over 2 years and yesterday the front (main) screen has begun "jumping"..I have pulled the battery for a few minutes, shut it down and back on and also have turned it off over night, can anyone tell me what is going on all of a sudden

Well, you could try the usual trick of a factory reset, but be warned it would erase all your contacts and photos if you have any, so find a way to save them before doing the reset. Otherwise, it might be a hardware issue, if there is a patch, find it and download it. Otherwise, it might indeed be time to get a new phone.
