Question about EDGE

by AtillaThePun    Oct 19, 2003, 12:07 AM

Edge is defined in the PhoneScoop glossary as:

--------------------------------------------- -
EDGE

(Enhanced Data for Global Evolution)

An upgrade for GSM/GPRS networks that triples data speeds over standard GPRS.

Because it is based on existing GSM technology, EDGE is a smooth upgrade for GSM network operators. It also works within existing spectrum, making it ideal for countries without dedicated 3G spectrum, such as the US.

--------------------------------------------- -

Does that mean it will work with current GPRS client phones?

PS Rich if you see this "exsiting" is spelled wrong in the original article. And I love the spell checker in the new forums!!
