can gsm and wcdma hand off between each other as easily as analog tdma/cdma?

In theory, yes, although at this point I believe only Nokia has released a phone capable of that feature.

thats good to hear, i was thinking cingulars gonna go through the TDMA to GSM switch all over again

Can someone give me quick rundown of WCDMA vs. GSM. What is the advantage to switching, and what does the future look like for GSM in the US? I travel internationally and love the convience of having my phone with me when I go. Thanks
