WCDMA/CDMA

What are the Technical differences between WCDMA and CDMA. ive had people tell me that its a combo of Time division type techs and code division techs.

WCDMA (UMTS) and "CDMA" (IS-95 and CDMA2000) both use a type of CDMA (code-division multiple access) technology.

CDMA-based technologies are different from TDMA-based technologies in how they allow multiple users to share the same frequency band. With TDMA, (time-division,) users basically take turns. But very quick turns, like in microseconds. With CDMA, many users transmit on the same frequency at the same time, and voodoo science 😉 allows them to not interfere (or rather, interfere in a "good way".)

WCDMA and CDMA both use the CDMA method, which is generally more efficient.
