wb, you are right about possible implications concerning telemarketers. Porting landline numbers to wireless carriers could most definitely crumble that delicate barrier keeping telemarketers from dialing cell #'s. However, hopefully the whole Federal DNC list concept will go through and help with this potential problem.

And Raven, just to make sure you have it straight, you will not be able to port an existing cellphone number to a landline. It is the other way around: cellphone to cellphone and landline to cellphone will be allowed only. The FCC does not recognize enough of a demand for it.
