Some land line providers are fighting this concept. They see it as a major loss of funding and are threatening legal action to try and prevent it. Yet this is a good answer to the growing problem of wireless carriers running out phone numbers. This is a great solution to that problem.
A friend of mine, who is a telemarketing manager states: "This opens the door for telephone solicitors, completing lifting away previous legal barriers that once protected cell phones from solicitors. If the same number serves as both land line and wireless than it is no longer strictly a wireless number."
One way or another solicitors are trying to batter away the only obstacle that stands between them and a hidden but large number of potential customers.
