Rumor has it that nextel is coming out with a camera phone. Any significance to that rumor? Or is it just that, a rumor.

Look for them Q3 or Q4 of this year. They are also releasing a Microsoft smart phone.

Look for this handset to roll out after the WiDEN upgrade. This will allow 4-5 time faster data transfer rates over the currently deployed 2.5 iDEN network. Look for speeds to be around 150kbps which will compete well with GSM providers using EDGE. The phone will come out sometime around August of this year. The i860 will also allow full MMS(multi media messaging) and call notification with user selectable pictures and ringers. This will be Nextel's 1st camera phone. Nextel is usually a little behind when it comes to rolling out new products, but when they do, it's done right.
