Anyone familiar with Budget Mobile/gov't phones?

by Android Ace    Oct 11, 2011, 11:35 AM

Budget Mobile is an MVNO that purports to offer "free" cellphone service (via federal assistance) to low-income customers who are also on other Federal aid programs. Some of you may be familiar with it. It's a complete scam.

My complaint with this company (if it can be called that) is regarding their questionable customer service information. I work for a Sprint Preferred retailer. Several times a week, people visit our store who have been told to activate their Sprint-branded Budget Mobile devices at our location. However, my associates and I are incapable of servicing these devices as we have no affiliation with Budget Mobile. It interferes with our business and causes us to look inept. The service representatives at Budget Mobile are either grossly misinformed, or are deliberately scamming their customers. According to Google Maps, one of their 'dealers' are actually based at a seedy little payday advance store here in my town!

Anyone else had to deal with this company, or some other "free"/government phone company?
